Born and raised at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro from the teacher’s family, my journey into the world of adventure and exploration began at an early age. Inspired by the beauty of Tanzania and driven by a deep passion for nature and culture, I became a professional guide in 2005. Over the years, I have dedicated my life to showcasing the wonders of Tanzania to travellers from around the world.
As the Director General and Founder of Wild Ways Tanzania Adventure, my mission is to provide authentic and unforgettable experiences that go beyond the ordinary.
With a focus on hidden gems, off-the-beaten-path adventures, and immersive cultural encounters, I take pride in crafting unique itineraries that highlight the true essence of Tanzania.Now based in Arusha, the heart of Tanzania’s tourism, I am a proud father of five. Balancing family and my love for the wild, I continue to explore new ways to make every journey a meaningful and memorable experience for our guests. Joan Mariki is the Operations and Reservations Director at Wild Ways Tanzania Adventure. She joined the company after completing her studies, driven by a deep passion for Tanzania’s tourism industry and a commitment to supporting her father’s vision of creating unforgettable safari experiences.
With a strong background in hospitality and tourism management, Joan plays a crucial role in ensuring seamless safari operations. She oversees trip planning, reservations, and logistics, ensuring that every guest experiences the magic of Tanzania effortlessly.
Her attention to detail and dedication to customer satisfaction make her an invaluable part of the Wild Ways team.

I’m from Canada, the Rocky Mountains actually, so tourism has been my income for many years, but so has travel. The first time I arrived to East Africa and Tanzania in particular I was smitten! The people, the climate and the slower paced way of life drew me in, (Canadian winters in the mountains are LONG) and I was fortunate to have a job that allowed annual extended visits to Arusha for many years.
It was during these stays that I met and got to know Godbless and his family, leading to partnership within WildWays Tanzania. I feel very passionate about sharing my experiences and joy of travel in
Tanzania, with all its challenges (rough roads) and delights (fresh fruits and veggies) with anyone who has ever watched a National Geographic special and thought I want to see that for myself.
